Trauma is defined as an emotional response to a terrible event but the reality is, trauma is about more than just the event. Trauma is the response to the event, and the response to the response, and a million different pieces that make up how each person experiences their individual trauma.
My goal as a therapist is to:
✔️ Create safety and trust to allow you to explore your trauma without fear of judgement or re-traumatization.
✔️ Work towards agency and control over your life and your choices, including what your healing processes looks like.
✔️ Promote emotional regulation and resilience.
Healing in the context of trauma doesn't mean the event goes away, it means that you have the ability to recognize it, accept it, and live with it in the best possible way that feels authentic to you.
